Life in Benalmádena

Benalmádena Costa is where the hotels, the shopping centres and Puerto Marina are found, and the landmarks are easy to spot: the Stupa, 33 metres high and built in 2003, Castillo Bil-Bil, and the cable car that climbs to the Calamorro summit at 769 metres.

Arroyo de la Miel, the most populous district, grew around a farmhouse with six 18th-century paper mills, and it has its own railway station. The Cercanías C1 line runs from Málaga through the airport to Fuengirola, with trains every 20 minutes, and one ticket covers buses, Cercanías and the Metro de Málaga.

The Torrequebrada golf course lies beside the Torrequebrada casino, and the family attractions include the SeaLife aquarium, Selwo Marina and Parque Paloma. The climate is Mediterranean, without winter frost, with an average of 19 °C. Benalmádena Day is celebrated on 8 November, and a Friday market takes place every week.
